Sabbath 30 October, 2021:
Sabbath Sermon: "God’s Righteousness in the light of the end time events"
Bible verse: Daniel 9:7
“Lord, you are righteous, but this day we are covered with shame—the people of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and all Israel, both near and far, in all the countries where you have scattered us because of our unfaithfulness to you."
It’s an obvious truism to say that the cross stands at the heart of the entire Christian theology. The problem for anyone who attempts to think Christian thoughts after New Testament authors is that each time the Scriptures (and apostle Paul) mention the cross – as they do it at least a few dozens of times – they say something different about it.
What does it mean that on the cross Jesus disarmed all evil powers of the world and triumphed over them? (Colossians 2:15) We still see the enemy of souls being “in full force” preparing for the last spiritual battle called “Armageddon”.
Thus, our main question for today is: What does it mean that in Jesus of Nazareth, specifically in his cross, the decisive victory has been won over all powers of evil, including sin and death themselves?
