The Biggest Challenge Facing The Church Today || Episode 002

Welcome to the Christian podcast, God's Plan for Living where today, we're talking about The Biggest Challenge Facing The Church Today!

For many of us, our church upbringings taught us that, once you’ve been saved by Jesus’ death on the cross, you’re just on your own until the coming of the Kingdom of Heaven. Good luck and Godspeed!

The problem is, people can get awfully discontent waiting for Heaven when they haven’t been taught how to live the truth of God’s Kingdom in their daily lives here on Earth.

In this episode of God’s Plan For Living, I talk about this Great Disconnect that keeps believers from walking into the freedom and abundance that Jesus died for. I feel like this is a huge problem the church is facing right now, and I’d like to share with you some of my ideas on how we can overcome it. Take a listen!

If you want to get a head-start on opening up your life to receive the Kingdom, you can buy my new book, “God’s Plan For Living,” right here on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BZ4YL8YM

The Church is called to be and make disciples not converts, and Jesus' method for making disciples was through the context of a real relationship with others. Jesus gave us a definition for a disciple, which is someone who is following Jesus, being changed by Jesus, and is committed to the mission of Jesus. Every command God gives promotes and protects relationship and maturity in Christ is your ability to love well in difficult situations and with difficult people.

The Cost of Discipleship
Scripture: Luke 14:1-35
Speaker: Pastor Philip Miller

The path of discipleship is not for the faint of heart. It demands everything, a complete surrender to Jesus. It's like a king going to war, he's got to count the cost, assess his strength, before engaging a more powerful enemy. Are you willing to lay down your all, to make peace with the King of Kings?

The truth is, many are invited to the feast of God's kingdom, but they find themselves preoccupied with the things of this world. They'd rather chase after fields and oxen than partake in the banquet of God's grace. But let me assure you, true blessing lies in answering the call of discipleship, no matter the cost.

Now, some might balk at this, thinking it all sounds too difficult. But remember, we're not saved by our own efforts, by our ability to perfectly renounce everything. Salvation is a gift, received by grace, through faith in Jesus. It's in our surrender, in acknowledging our weakness, that we find true strength in Him.

This radical surrender, this "dying to self," is at the heart of the Christian life. We die to sin, to control, to comfort, and in that death, we find new life in Christ. It's a paradox, but it's the truth. We lay down our lives, and in that surrender, we discover the abundant life Jesus promised.

So, my friends, I urge you, don't be like the lukewarm salt, good for nothing. Stand out, be different, embrace the cost of discipleship. Let the world see the transforming power of Christ in you. This is a call to action, a call to full surrender, a call to truly live as followers of Jesus. Let's choose this day whom we will serve. Let's choose Jesus, no turning back.

In this video we discuss the concept of Kingdom Discipleship, using a functional approach called the Discipleship Plan. This Discipleship Plan is based on 5 core elements that build the foundation of things every new convert should know to live and grow in the Kingdom. The 5 core elements are: 1. Who is God (The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit); 2. Salvation and Sanctification; 3. The Kingdom of God; 4. Communicating with God; 5. Praise, Worship and Adoration.

Anxiety and fear are daily knocking on the doors of our hearts, and people are growing wearier and wearier. Weariness leans toward living defensively and retreating into our own inward-focused world.

However, the call on our lives as Christians is to live offensively: moving forward, making an impact, and living “on-purpose.”

God’s Word is central to this call, and regular reading can draw us closer to the heart of God and encourage us with His promises for our lives.

SUGGESTED SCRIPTURE READING

Psalm 121:1-2

Psalm 24:1-2

Philippians 4:19

Joshua 1:7

WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO

Consider what God says about Himself and what being a follower of such a God means for you as a Christian.

Live “offensively” – live “on-purpose,” moving forward and making an impact for the kingdom of God.

SUGGESTED PRAYER

Please pray for God to show you how He is always working and ever-present in His plan for your life.

Please pray for God to show you how you can make an impact for His kingdom in your daily life.

What has the modern church done that has led to unproductive and unbiblical discipleship methods?

According to Paul Washer, one of these methods is mass motivation through conferences. These events often stir up emotions and fire up attendees to walk more closely with Christ, promising radical transformation. However, when the participants return to their daily lives, they often find themselves back where they started, sometimes even more disillusioned than before. This cycle can be demoralizing and doesn't lead to sustainable spiritual growth.

True discipleship, Washer argues, is not complex but requires discipline. It involves being part of a community where the Word of God is expounded, leaders exemplify the life of Christ, and disciples are taught not just to read and study the Bible, but shown how. Similarly, they should not just be told to pray, but taught how to pray effectively. Other elements of the church, like the Lord's Supper, baptism, and the community of brothers and sisters in Christ, are all mechanisms designed by God to create disciples. Unfortunately, these simple but difficult methods are often overshadowed by the spectacle of large-scale events that promise quick results but deliver little.

2 Timothy 2:2 (NKJV): 'And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.'

Discovering God's Plan for My Life | Christian Podcast | Online Discipleship Training

Welcome to the Christian podcast, God's Plan for Living, where we'll be teaching on the common question many Christians have, "How do I go about discovering God's plan for my life?" As you watch today's online discipleship training episode, you'll be encouraged and equipped for all God has for you in His Kingdom.

Struggling to discover God’s plan for your life? Short of Him speaking direct revelations to us, sometimes it’s hard to discern what God wants us to do.

Truth is, most of the time God doesn’t deposit a heavenly To-Do List in your lap. You have to discover His plan in other ways.

Helping you figure out God’s plan is at the heart of God’s Plan For Living. It's all about trying to connect you with your identity in Christ, your unique design, and the assignment God has for you.

To that end, I have compiled a few methods, techniques, practices, and things to look out for in your life that can help you discover God’s plan for your life, and I discuss them in this episode of the God’s Plan For Living podcast. Take a listen and get ready to walk in God’s plan for you!
