In today's sermon (Part 2), Pastor Andrew Coleman preaches on Mark 9: 42-50. In this message, we see that leading fellow believers to sin is a very serious offense to God. We see Christ’s call to actively, seriously mortify (kill) our sin. As believers, we must respond to this passage through radical obedience to Christ and through living for Christ with our entire life. By living in obedience to Christ, we will experience God’s preservation and we will be a witness of Christ to those around us.

Changing the world is risky. Jesus risked his life to make the world a better place. When was the last time you took a risk for the cause of Christ? If you are like most, it was not recently. As the saying goes, "The greater the risks, the greater the rewards." What if the biggest risk in life is not taking any risks for the cause of Christ at all? In God's plan to make the world a better place, He unleashes us to be adventurous in our everyday lives. If your walk with God lacks adventure, take the 40-day discipleship challenge and dare others to do the same!
"Dietrich Bonhoeffer in The Cost of Discipleship said, 'When Christ calls a man, he bids him come and die.' The paradox of life springing from death is captured by Rev. Bousa. Jess beckons all believers--cautious, careful, crazy--to dare to be God's person through a life of passionate, Christ-centered discipline."

This video is our weekly sermon from January 12, in it we unpack what is Christian Discipleship and how Christians are to be disciples.
Has the business of doing ministry become the ministry in your church? Church Leaders: we must change the fundamental way we "do church" to live into our calling and remain focused on making disciples of Jesus Christ.
Some definitions of detachment are: “a severing of a relationship; a parting, a disentanglement with something, the separation of something, disengaging yourself from something or someone.”
Dr. Stanley states that in every biblical passage where discipleship is mentioned, so is the principle of detachment. The key idea is that in order to be a disciple, we must sever or disentangle anything from our lives that holds us back from fully yielding our lives to God.
Just like the rich young ruler from Matthew 19, we all have things that are important to us, things that compete for our attention and desire. In this message, Dr. Stanley calls believers to detach from anything that we place above God if we want to become true disciples.
This message is part of the series "Called to be a Disciple."

Jesus said that many people would call him “Lord” on the last day and yet not truly be his disciple. Is it possible to claim to be a Christian and not truly be saved? According to Jesus, the answer is yes. In this message from Matthew 4:18–22, David Platt unpacks the significance of what Jesus means when he says to people, “Follow me.” Biblical discipleship is more than merely saying a prayer or making a decision, though it may involve those things. Biblical discipleship means surrendering your life to Christ’s lordship, recognizing the identity of the One who invites us to follow him. He is Savior, Lord, King, and Messiah—truly God and truly man. There is nothing greater than having a relationship with God through his Son, Jesus Christ.
What makes someone a follower of Jesus? Going to church? Donating money to good causes? Trying to be a good person?
The answer is actually much simpler—all you have to do is follow the Leader. In this message, Dr. Stanley outlines exactly how to walk in the footsteps of Jesus, beginning with surrendering your life and mirroring His life of prayer, service, and sacrifice.
Don’t get caught up in performing Christianity—just pick up your cross and follow the Leader.

Are you a disciple or just a Christian? Is there a difference between the two? Jesus told us to go and make disciples, but instead we make Christians. We are often guilty of not preparing people for what it TRULY means to be a fully-devoted follower of Jesus Christ. In this 10-minute sermon from Luke 14:25-35 Jesus is brutally honest about what it means to be a disciple rather than just being a Christian. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
